Berlin is the capital of the freshly unified Germany. Since 1989
the two sides of the country have solidified as one nation Germany has made a
marvelous comeback. Berlin is full of nice people and has a “laid back attitude”
and is full of some of the best night clubs in Europe. You can visit authentic
beer halls. An excellent reason to visit Berlin is because of its rich history.
You can also visit where the wall once stood and see the Brandenburg Gate.
Berlin Wall
The Berlin wall is basically 160 kilometres of fossil remains, which mark the
end of the 28 year division of the East and West. Some of the wall is being
preserved. The largest gallery in the world is situated in the East side, this
is where the longest remaining section is held.
Museum Island
This Island features some of the best museums in Berlin, some of the well known
are, the Pergamon Museum, Altes Museum, the Nationalgalerie and the Bodemuseum.
The Berliner Dom, church of the Hohenzollern family stands next to the Altes
Museum and has the remains of 90 family members in its vault.
Brandenburg Gate
This gate was embedded in the Berlin Wall and locked for the duration of communist
rule. This process was done by Friedrich Wilhelm II to represent peace. The
gate now stands in the centre of Berlin and joins the two sides of the city.
