Entry Requirements

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: A passport and visa as well as an invitation are required. Effective March 2002, a one-month single-entry tourist visa can be obtained upon arrival at the airport “Manas” for $60 fee without invitation.

Travelers cannot obtain a tourist visa at land borders. American citizens visiting the Kyrgyz Republic no longer have to register with the Office of Visas and Registration. The Embassy also recommends that Americans traveling in the Kyrgyz Republic obtain Kazakhstani visas, as commercial air travel out of the Kyrgyz Republic is limited and Americans may need to travel through Kazakhstan to return to the United States.

In an effort to prevent international child abduction, many governments have initiated procedures at entry/exit points. These often include requiring documentary evidence of relationship and permission for the child’s travel from the parent(s) or legal guardian if not present. Having such documentation on hand, even if not required, may facilitate entry/departure.
