The Galway Airport is a fairly small airport located in Carnmore, about 7 km north of the city of Galway. It serves an average of 250,000 passengers every year since it was opened in 1998. The airport is mostly for low-cost connecting flights to various hub airports including London, Manchester and Dublin. While its operations are relatively minimal, it does offer basic passenger amenities including budget car rental options and dining facilities.

The airport is housed in a single terminal building that serves all arrivals and departures from Aer Arann, the sole airlines that currently goes through it. Aer Arann offers low cost flights coming to and from a number of destinations, including Manchester, Dublin and Edinburgh.
