Gerona airport, spelt Girona in Catalonia, is to the south of Gerona city and is well located for car rental access to the rugged coastline and sandy beaches of Costa Brava. Gerona is the second major city, after Barcelona, of the Catalan region of Spain. It has a history dating back to Roman times.
