The Picton Interislander Ferry Terminal is situated in the Marlborough Sounds, south of New Zealand. The easiest way to get to the terminal coming from the places of Kaikoura, Christchurch or Blenheim is through the State Highway 1, from where signs will direct you to the ferry port entrance. Travelers who drive their own cars or who have opted for budget car rental may check-in their vehicles in the designated area off of Lagoon Road, although some car hire providers don’t allow their facilities for this service.

The Interislander ferry sails through the Cook Strait from the North Island—Wellington, to the South Island—Picton, Marlborough Sounds. The ferry offers services for on-foot and on-vehicle passengers alike. The terminal has phone booths, rest rooms, vending machines for snacks and drinks, an internet access, and an arcade. Food joints and shops also operate in the terminal within the day. Coin operated lockers, showers and laundry facilities are available just outside the terminal.

Transportation services include taxis, water taxis, buses or shuttles, and cheap car rentals at the Picton Ferry port, with designated stands and stations outside the terminal.
